Castillo de Canena Olive groves Cortijo Guadiana
For 3000 years, olive oil has played a leading role in our culture and economy here in the Alto Guadalquivir Valley and across Andalusia. We have been farmers for nine generations; we live by and for the land, and have a great love for nature. We are harvesters after all, and take great care of our trees and the ecosystem in which they grow.
By Rosa and Paco Vañó, whose family have been making olive oil since 1780.
This beautiful Castillo de Canena olive oil comes exclusively from a family estate called Cortijio Guadiana, which has been run the same way for generations. Heritage varieties of olives such as Picual, Arbequina and the local Sierra de Cazorla ‘Royal’ Olives are harvested at prime ripeness, and turned into top quality extra virgin olive oil. They are cold-pressed a maximum of four hours after picking, to maintain maximum freshness and flavour.
This bottle is a limited edition of the Family Reserve, made from 100% medium-green Arbequina olives for a balanced and harmonious product. This particular oil is verdant and fruity, with tasting notes of green apple, green almonds and freshly cut grass. It’s most delicious enjoyed with fish, in vinaigrettes and mayonnaise.
